Citizens
will hold a public, anti-injection well protest/ rally to oppose the proposed Hubbard Township fracking waste injection well on
Sunday, September 16, 2018 near Katie’s
Korner Homemade Ice Cream (Hubbard) starting at 1 PM to 6 PM
Hubbard, Ohio - To
oppose the proposed Hubbard Township fracking waste injection well and other
injection wells in the region, Citizens Against Injection Wells – Hubbard Twp.
is holding an open-to-the-public,
anti-injection well protest/rally on Sunday, September 16, 2018 starting at
1:00 PM to 6:00 PM near Katie’s Korner Homemade Ice Cream at 2591 North Main
Street, Hubbard, Ohio, 44425.
Organizers are urging all residents, media,
and elected and public officials from all communities to attend. Attendees can sign a citizen petition
opposing the injection well.
The proposed Hubbard
Township injection well
that is the focus of the protest is planned to be sited way too near family
homes, businesses, government buildings, and an important waterway.
The group says that Ohio
cannot be used as a toxic waste dumping ground.
They are calling for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to
immediately deny the Bobcat Hubbard LLC permit application to drill the
proposed Hubbard Township injection well. The group
stresses that this must be done by ODNR in order to protect the public health,
safety, and welfare of Hubbard
Township and the
surrounding communities and region.
The group says that injection wells pose unacceptable risks to water,
air, and land, including potential man-made earthquakes.
